Hope & Compassion
for Grieving Families

At William’s Be Yourself Challenge (WBYC), we support grieving families through community, movement, and compassion. Founded in memory of William Shaw—a joyful 9-year-old who showed us the power of being yourself—WBYC helps families facing profound loss find connection, support, and moments of joy, even in the hardest times.

We’re also building The Green House, a retreat home where grieving families can find rest, reflection, and the space to simply be together.

What's New at WBYC

Grief Resources

The collective grief so many of us are carrying right now is immense. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, tender, or unsure where to turn, please know you’re not alone—and support is available. We invite you to explore our Resources page, which includes offerings from Susie Shaw as well as trusted, highly respected grief centers and organizations across the United States. Whether you’re seeking understanding, guidance, or simply a place to land, we hope these resources help you find the right support for you and your grief.

The Green House

WBYC is launching its most transformative initiative yet. With your support, we aim to open The Green House—a retreat for grieving families to heal, find solace, and regain strength in a peaceful environment. Together, we can make this vision a reality.
